I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good evening,
We’ve received a report of vehicle interference in the area involving two unknown males trying door handles in an attempt to gain access to vehicles. The pair managed to enter one car, although nothing was taken. Please see the vehicle‑security tips below to help prevent further incidents.
Suggested Vehicle‑Interference Deterrent Tips:
-Always lock your vehicle, even if leaving it for a short time. -Check all windows are fully closed before walking away. -Remove valuables or store them out of sight — even small items can tempt offenders. -Remove bags, boxes, and coats, which can give the impression valuables might be inside. -Park in well‑lit areas or near CCTV where possible. -Use additional security such as steering wheel locks or anti-theft devices. -Ensure keyless‑entry fobs are kept away from doors/windows, ideally in a signal-blocking pouch. -Report any suspicious behaviour immediately via 999 if a crime is in progress, or 101/online for non‑emergencies.
We encourage you to report this if you have had people attempt to gain entry to your vehicle as well as if you have had items stolen from your vehicle. Furthermore, if you know of someone would benefit from this message please make them aware and get them to report.
